Bettye-Jo Rawls Lloyd, MD, obtained her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine. She performed her ophthalmology residency in Washington, D.C. where she later was Chief of the clinic and resident education instructor. She has been an associate professor of Ophthalmology at the State University of New York and was named Instructor of the Year each year of her tenure. Dr. Lloyd is a native of Indianapolis and had been in a solo practice for 8 years before joining Abrams EyeCare, formerly Lashmet, Spitzberg, Denny and Abrams in 1995. Dr. Lloyd is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Indiana State Medical Association, Indianapolis Medical Society, National Medical Association, Aesculapian Medical Society, and Board Certified in Ophthalmology.
Although she enjoys all aspects of eye care (including routine exams for all ages), her special interests are treatment of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Lloyd has donated her services to many organizations throughout the years, including the Indiana Society to Prevent Blindness and Eyecare for America through the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
